The Employment Rights Bill – don’t panic, prepare!

If you’ve been on LinkedIn recently, you’ve probably seen some dramatic posts about big changes in employment law happening this month.

Here’s the reality: most of those changes are still tied up in red tape with no confirmed implementation dates.

What has changed over the last few months:

✅ Neonatal Care Leave is now in effect – definitely worth familiarising yourself with.
✅ Statutory rates (like minimum wage and sick pay) have gone up – your payroll should be up to date by now

What hasn’t changed (yet):

❌ Statutory Sick Pay from Day 1
❌ Unfair dismissal rights from Day 1 (though this may come with a probation period clause anyway)

At HR Caddy we are big believers in the “don’t panic until it’s real” approach. So for now – don’t stress. If you one of our clients we’ll be keep you posted when there’s actual, confirmed news. We promise!

That said, in the meantime, there are a few smart steps you can take now to get ahead:

✔️ Review and strengthen your recruitment process
✔️ Improve onboarding and early-stage support
✔️ Fine-tune how you handle probation periods

Nailing these now will put you in a strong position, whatever changes come our way.

If you’d like to chat about how we can support you with any of the above, feel free to contact us on 03330 341505 or by emailing us on enquiries@hrcaddy.co.uk.

And if you’re not already subscribed to our newsletter, contact us today – it’s the easiest way to stay in the loop.

(we'd love to hear from you)

We previously worked with a national HR provider that used call centres for their services, all very impersonal!

We heard about HR Caddy from a friend, we found them very approachable, practical and professional.
